  • Wessex Water no hosepipe ban 2018

We would like to again reassure our customers that there is no hosepipe ban in place for the Wessex Water region.

News coverage this week has focused on upcoming temporary use bans imposed by United Utilities in the north-west of England.

While average weekly demand for water in our region has increased by around 20% during the recent hot weather, we currently have no concerns about our reservoir or river levels and there is no hosepipe ban in force - there hasn't been one in our supply region since 1976.

As we do throughout the year, we're asking customers to use water responsibly and report leaks to us to ensure demand continues to be met.

Aimee Shaw, head of water resources, said: "We've got enough water and we don't expect to be imposing a hosepipe ban, although we're not complacent and we're closely monitoring our resource position.

"We plan for periods of hot, dry weather like this but it's important we all do our bit to save water.
